Enagh Lough: Emergency services in attendance at ongoing incident in Derry

Emergency services are at the scene of an ongoing incident at Enagh Lough, Londonderry.

wo patients have been taken by ambulance to Altnagelvin Area Hospital.

An eyewitness told the Causeway Coast Community website that the alarm was raised after “two children were seen playing in the water for a period of time and disappeared.” 

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) said it received a 999 call shortly before 6.30pm on Monday.

The Air Ambulance as well as five emergency crews were among medics despatched to the scene.

Police and fire service as well as Foyle Search and Rescue are also in attendance. The NIAS says the incident is ongoing as they work with partner agencies at the scene.

SDLP MLA for Foyle Mark H Durkan told the Belfast Telegraph: “My thoughts and prayers are with those affected and the local community. I commend the emergency services in their response.”  

DUP MLA for Foyle Gary Middleton tweeted “Ongoing serious incident at Enagh Lough, Temple Road area. My thoughts and prayers are with all involved at this time.”
